MANILA, Philippines—Rain or Shine is down two games to none in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals series against TNT but that didn’t stop coach Yeng Guiao from finding some positives in his Elasto Painters squad.
In Game 2 of the best-of-seven series at Philsports Arena on Friday, Rain or Shine brought the Tropang Giga to yet another heart-stopping finish but ultimately fell short, 93-91.

While Guiao admitted his disappointment with the team being down 0-2, the veteran tactician lauded the fact that his young squad was able to give TNT a scare for two straight games.
“The mere fact that you’re playing a champion team with a steep tradition to an end game situation every time, that’s huge,” said Guiao.

In Game 1, the Elasto Painters gave the Tropang Giga a hard time as TNT only won by four, 88-84.
Import Deon Thompson tried to change the course of Rain or Shine from its series-opening loss with 22 points and 14 rebounds but for naught.

Adrian Nocum finished with 19 points, himself, but he missed the most important shot that would’ve sent the clash to an overtime period.
Like the clichè goes, a series isn’t over until it’s over and with the next games ahead, Guiao is hoping that the squad not only rack up wins but also learn from its mistakes.
“There are still some, I won’t call them rookie mistakes, but mistakes from lack of experience.”
“When we get more of those experiences, this team will get stronger.”
Rain or Shine hopes to avoid a 3-0 predicament on Sunday when they face TNT in Game 3 at Araneta Coliseum.
