‘Guard dog’ hilariously fails test by napping during fake armed raid

While you can never predict how your dog is going to react when you’re in danger, you’d hope they come to your aid and scare away your attacker. But to do this, they first need to realise that something is up.

A husky has been crowned the ‘world’s most useless guard dog’ after failing to react when her owner, Worawut Lomwanawong, staged a security test at his jewellery shop in Thailand. Worawut wanted to test how his dog, named Lucky, would respond if an armed robber burst into his store and made away with a handful of rings, bracelets and necklaces.

She didn’t move a muscle through the entire training exercise

To his dismay, Lucky showed little to no regard for her owner’s safety and didn’t even bother to lift her head to see what was happening.

The lazy dog didn’t move a single muscle throughout the entire training exercise, allowing the “robber” to get away with the valuable goods.

“When a thief comes to rob a gold shop. You can’t be lazy like this. Will you really not get up to help your father?,” said Worawut. “The police simulated the incident – it was a training exercise and not a real robbing.”

After sharing CCTV footage on Facebook, users couldn’t help but laugh at the dog’s disinterest over what was happening around him.

One user said: “I know that my father is faking it. He’s just practicing so I will keep chilling and sleeping.”

Another user added: “Just like our dog. People climbed the fence to pick up mangoes. My dog, Nong, just laid down and looked at her face.”

A third user said: “She must be the most useless guard dog in the world. She didn’t even look up when the man came into the shop.”

But Lucky isn’t the only dog who has been grabbing people’s attention this week as a Pekingese, called Teddy, has become quite the hit online.

A shop owner made her three-legged dog her store’s ‘official greeter’ and shared a picture of him sat on the front counter alongside a ‘handy’ sign that answer’s people’s most-asked questions about him.

It reads: “Hi, my name is Teddy! Yes, you may pet me (In fact, I insist). I’m almost three-years-old. I’m some kind of super mutt mix – maybe Pekingese?”

When explaining how he lost his leg, the owner tried to lighten the mood by joking around before sharing what the poor dog endured as a puppy.

It continues: “I lost my leg in a knife fight. No, just kidding, it was a shark attack.

“But really, it was broken when I was a baby at a Texas puppy mill and they never got me medical attention so it had to be amputated when my mum adopted me at five-months-old.”

As the store is dog-friendly, the owner ended off with some ground rules on how dogs and their owners should act while browsing her products.

“I don’t like when other dogs get in my space while I’m on the counter but if you have a well-behaved, calm dog, I will love meeting them on the floor and on leash,” it reads. “Mum says I’m on a diet so I can’t have any more treats.”
