Pricing for AMD’s Ryzen 9000 Desktop Chips Leaks

The Ryzen 9000 series was supposed to arrive today before AMD delayed the launch to mid-August. Now, it looks like pricing for the next-generation desktop chips has leaked.

Product listings for the Ryzen 9000 were spotted on Best Buy and Newegg, which seemingly reveal the official pricing:

Pricing is the last major mystery of the Ryzen 9000 series, which AMD delayed after uncovering quality-control problems with some early launch units. The Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X are set to launch on Aug. 8, while the Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 9900X arrive on Aug. 15.

The cost discrepancy between Best Buy and Newegg suggests that final pricing may not be settled. AMD didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. 

In the meantime, the leaked pricing suggests AMD is trying to address complaints about the last-generation Ryzen 7000 series, which initially launched at higher pricing—the Ryzen 9 7950X for $699 and the Ryzen 9 7900X for $549.

Lower prices could help AMD lure customers away from rival Intel, which is facing controversy over the company’s 13th and 14th Generation Core desktop chips repeatedly crashing. Although Intel is preparing to release a fix next month, the instability issues are severe enough to potentially cause irreversible damage to affected chips.

So far, Intel hasn’t issued a product recall, but the chipmaker is encouraging affected users to reach out through the company’s customer support.
