MANILA, Philippines — Caitlin Viray didn’t want to waste the efforts of Trisha Tubu as she stepped up to fill in the big shoes of their injured leading scorer in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
With Tubu sitting out due to back spasms, Viray plugged in the void and joined hands with the resurgent Rachel Anne Daquis to complete Farm Fresh’s come-from-behind 18-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-19, 15-12 win over Capital1 on Tuesday at Philsports Arena.

“More of para kay Tubs [Trisha Tubu] din kasi dinala niya kami dito, talagang trinabaho niya talaga yung mga past games namin so habang nagre-recover siya,” said Viray. “ Para hindi na niya isipin ‘yung puwesto na naiwanan niya, focus muna siya sa recovery.”

Viray dropped 14 points, highlighted by three blocks, while Daquis played her best game as a Foxy with 19 points to finish the preliminary round with a 5-6 record.

“Talagang nagtulong-tulong lang kami kasi ang laki nung nawala na scoring load [galing] kay Tubs so happy na talagang nag-step up lahat and ‘yon, lima ‘yung nag-double digit so ibig sabihin team effort talaga siya,” she said.
The Foxies leaned on their balanced attack to end a two-game skid despite the absence of the 2024 Reinforced Conference Best Opposite Spiker, who is the top 4 best scorer with 182 points off 165 kills, 11 blocks, and six aces.
Tubu is still recovering from her injury, getting more time ahead of Farm Fresh’s qualifying game next week where the Fox will try to earn one of the first six quarterfinal tickets.
