Texas starting quarterback Quinn Ewers has left the game against No. 1 Alabama with an apparent injury to his non-throwing shoulder.
The injury occurred at the tail end of the first quarter, with Texas driving at first-and-goal at the Alabama 1-yard line. Ewers scrambled backward to avoid getting hit by Will Anderson Jr., then threw the ball away with Dallas Turner closing in.
While Ewers was in the air, Turner tackled him, driving him into the ground. Turner was called for roughing the passer. Here’s the play as it happened:

Fox sideline reporter Jenny Taft said on the game telecast that Ewers was visibly upset as he headed into the injury tent on the sidelines, kicking trash cans as he entered. He left the field with a towel over his head on his way to the locker room.
Prior to his injury, Ewers, the former No. 1 overall recruit in the country, had completed 9 of 12 yards for 134 yards against Alabama. That includes a 43-yard connection to receiver Xavier Worthy on the previous play.
