One of the greatest rivalries is underway in a seven-game series, as the United States and Canada are facing off in the 2022-23 Rivalry Series.
The two countries have dominated in women’s hockey. In the history of the IIHF Women’s World Championship and Olympic Winter Games, only two gold medal games have not consisted of the Americans and the Canadians.
The two women’s national teams are set to take part in the third installment of the Rivalry Series. It was not played the last two seasons due to COVID-19.

What is the Rivalry Series?
The Rivalry Series was introduced by USA Hockey and Hockey Canada during the 2018-19 season. It was a way for the two powerhouses to meet on an annual basis outside of other international competitions.
The first year, the event consisted of three games between the women’s national teams. Canada took the series 2-1.
The following 2019-20 season consisted of five games, with the series expanding outside of just a single month. Team USA dominated that year, taking four of the five games.
The series has not been played the last two years due to COVID-19.
When does the 2022-23 Rivalry Series start?
The seven games between the bitter rivals will start with Game 1 on Tuesday, Nov. 15. The teams will play two more games that week on Thursday, Nov. 17 and Sunday, Nov. 20.
After that, the series is off until mid-December. The final two games have yet to be scheduled.

Where is the 2022-23 Rivalry Series?
The 2022-23 Rivalry Series will be played at a number of locations across the two countries. Five different cities from the United States and Canada will host a game for the series. Kelowna, British Columbia will host Game 1.
The location for the last two contests have yet to be announced.
