Oh, the humanity!
Russell Wilson has come under fire for his seemingly inauthentic and manufactured persona through the years, and it’s been strikingly apparent in his first year with the Broncos. Well, that is according to former teammate Michael Robinson.
With the Broncos sitting at 2-4 and their team entering something of a tailspin, the current NFL Network analyst Robinson took some time to offer some advice and a little bit of insight on the Broncos locker room and Wilson’s seemingly overly gregarious

This is Football 101. My 13-year-old son knows how to redirect an offensive line, and Russell understands how to do that, too. My thing is this: When you call him a robot … this is what he’s on with me when you call him a robot. How can you stand up there, and you know the offense looks like this, you know all these questions around here, about you, and about this offense, and you just say, ‘Oh, we just need to execute better. Let’s ride.’ ‘We need to execute better. Let’s ride.’
If you’re a teammate in that locker room, you’re like: Dude. Be human. Please. Call somebody out. Be upset about something. Don’t just act like this is business as usual, because at the end of the day, David — and I think this is on the horizon for this team, and I hope it’s not, but I think it’s on the horizon — mutiny is afoot. The guys in that locker room are going to start to turn around and say, ‘Wow, OK, Russell got paid, he got his money. The new head coach is all happy, he got his money, he’s all good. But what about us? What about the guys in the locker room?’

To Robinson’s point, Wilson did get paid. He signed a gaudy, $245 million extension prior to the start of the 2022 season that will keep him locked in Denver through 2028.
It’s also hard to knock Wilson for being a hyper-positive leader as the face of the team, but when things are going bad, it’s easy to see how that may rub players the wrong way.

The Broncos offense was supposed to be much more explosive than what it has shown so far in 2022. Denver has scored 16 points or less in five of six games and Wilson seemingly has had a difficult time acclimating to new head coach Nathaniel Hackett’s offense.
They’ve also been handed a number of injuries, with wideout Tim Patrick, left tackle Garrett Bolles and running back Javonte Williams all done for the season. It also doesn’t help that Melvin Gordon is going through it.
Wilson himself is currently dealing with a hamstring injury, but we’ll see if he suffers a bruised ego after Robinson’s comments.
