Later this year, consumers will be able to buy Samsung’s first-ever OLED gaming monitor.
On Wednesday, the company introduced(Opens in a new window) the Odyssey OLED G8, which Samsung will show off during the IFA trade show in Berlin later this week. But the product isn’t just a concept. Samsung plans to start selling it globally sometime during the fourth quarter.
The 34-inch monitor features a screen that marries an OLED panel with Samsung’s Quantum Dot technology. This can produce bright, vivid colors and deep blacks rivaling the pixel quality found in LG’s OLED panels.

The monitor itself has a widescreen 3,440-by-1,440 resolution. The screen also has a slight curvature rated at 1800R. Other perks include a high 175Hz refresh rate, a 0.1-millisecond response time, and a 5W built-in speaker, along with an adjustable stand.
Samsung hasn’t revealed the full specs for the Odyssey OLED G8. But it probably uses the same QD-OLED display tech found in Alienware’s 34-inch AW3423DW monitor, which went on sale earlier this year. It too features a 175Hz refresh rate, a 0.1-millisecond response time, and received an excellent score from us in our review.

Samsung’s monitor tries to differentiate itself by including some built-in cloud gaming services. “Players can discover and play games from partners such as Xbox, Nvidia GeForce Now, Google Stadia, Utomik, and Amazon Luna (US only), with instant access to top streaming services,” the company said.

The monitor is also built with Micro HDMI 2.1, Mini DP 1.4 and USB-C ports.
There’s no word on how much the Odyssey OLED G8 will cost. But Alienware’s QD-OLED monitor, the AW3423DW, is retailing for $1,299 on Dell’s website.
