Scientology and What We Know About It: Part One

  • Are you involved in Scientology?

We have all heard of Scientology, but what do we really know about it? Here are some things about Scientology you may not already know.

Science-Fiction Writing Founder

Yup, that’s right. The religion was started by Ron Hubbard, a science fiction writer who holds the Guinness World Record for Most Published Works by One Author. Foundational texts of Scientology and the church’s creation story involves aliens. However,  the church will tell you it doesn’t believe in aliens.

“Prison Camp”

Apparently, there was a Scientology prison camp of sorts. Previous members recall how disobedient members were sent to this “camp” for “re-indoctrination.” The camp was known as the Rehabilitations Project Force. Here people were forced to eat meager meals and do hard labor.

Going Clear is Accurate

If you know anything about Scientology, it’s probably the big names involved, like Tom Cruise and Leah Remini. Remini did a documentary on HBO called Going Clear, all about Scientology and her experiences. This documentary is said to be very accurate. Thus if you want to find out more, this is a great watch.

“I thought it was very accurate. I was shocked how accurate it was for not coming from Scientologists,” she wrote. “I wanted to see more stories about how it affected children. The systematic recruitment of members’ children. I wish it would have told the story of how Scientologists give their children to the ‘Church.’ It protects the life source that is continually bolstering the religion. But, I think they did an amazing job and they cleared the path for people like me to speak about it. HBO was very brave in taking it on. As is A&E, as it will be the first network is do a full series about it.”

Human Trafficking

The FBI has investigated Scientology as it’s been accused of enslaving members. The allegations that it’s almost impossible to leave the church are certainly true. Beyond that, there are reports of violence from church officials, all which prompted the FBI to investigate how members may have been controlled or coerced into staying.

There’s No Ending

There’s no ending meaning there isn’t a top level within the religion. The whole thing is a ploy to get more money.

“When you reach the top of The Bridge (OTP 8) you will be told that God is a lie for LRH (L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology’s founder), and there are more levels ahead that will cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars. There is no end to Scientology.”

The bridge referred to is the church scale that measures how close you are to being on the “higher plateau.” Ultimately, you keep paying and reaching for something that is, at the end of the day, unattainable.

Good Luck Leaving

The whole Scientology religion is based on brainwashing and this is what keeps you entangled in the religion. Part of this is any information that doesn’t come from a Scientologist source is forbidden. The church teaches its people that outside sources are lies, designed to destroy Scientology by outsiders that don’t want to see Scientologist people happy.

“Very early on in the brainwashing process, L. Ron Hubbard’s ‘technology’ teaches you that outside sources (i.e. the news, the internet, books, magazines) are ALL LIES and hellbent on destroying something decent like Scientology. The AMA, and APA, and all ‘governments’ do not give Scientology its due because they have a vested interest in not healing people and not helping people. And Scientology is in the business of making people better. So Scientologists are taught that their safest bet is to get their info from the only true decent people… and those are Scientologists. And if they look on the internet, if they read TIME, they will be met with punishment at their expense. And, as a Scientologist, you have to confess that you’ve read outside materials, and that will be met with punishment at your expense.”

If you are able to leave, expect the church to attempt to use things about your life or your time in the church against you.
