As the season changes, you may be looking at your autumn/winter wardrobe and thinking you can get rid of a few things. Whether it’s jumpers that just aren’t your style anymore or skirts that you’re pretty sure someone else would get more wear out of, there are so many reasons why you might be in the mood for a good clear-out. But what do you do with the clothes when you’ve decided you’re getting rid of them?

Re-sale sites have risen in popularity dramatically in recent years because people are more conscious of their environmental impact, but if you’re struggling to sell things on sites such as Vinted and Ebay, Emma Sendall, who refers to herself as the ‘Queen of Vinted’ on TikTok has got the perfect tips to make sure your items sell quickly and go to their new home sooner rather than later.

Her first tip is to ensure that your photos are as clear as possible, and to upload as many of them as you can onto the site.

Emma’s first tip covers the photography of the item you’re trying to sell.

She said: “Have lots and lots and lots of really high-quality, well-lit photos of the thing that you’re selling. It’s better that someone can see too much of it than not be able to see enough.”

Number two is: “Use as many descriptive words as you possibly can.”

She then holds up a pair of denim shorts as she says: “Say for example I wanted to sell these denim shorts – I could put, ‘high-waisted denim shorts.’

“Or I could put, ‘high-waisted, vintage, retro, cut off, denim, distressed shorts.

“Think of the words that someone would say if they were searching for something similar or the same as what you are trying to sell.”

Emma’s third and final tip to help you sell your unwanted garments is to think about the price you’re asking for it, as it can be a factor that may put people off.

She explained: “Have a think whether your price is too high. Have a look at other people who are selling things that are the same as what you are selling.

“If there are others for £3 or £4 less than what yours is priced at, nobody is going to buy yours.”

TikTok users thanked Emma for sharing her expertise and said they would certainly try these tips the next time they were uploading a haul.

One wrote: “Your tips have helped me out so much. Thank you!”

Another said: “Always coming through with the top tier advice! Thank you!”
