Spotify’s Redesigned Apple Watch App Offers Easier Access to Music, Podcasts

Spotify is making it easier for Apple Watch users to access music and podcasts on the go.

The audio streaming service this week introduced(Opens in a new window) a “new and improved” experience that invites listeners to browse Your Library and download tunes from their wrist.

Folks may notice the larger artwork, animations, and added functionality, like swiping to “like” a song and toggling shuffle mode on or off before pressing play.

Catering to podcast lovers, Spotify introduced a blue-dot system for unheard installments, ensuring “you’ll never miss fresh episodes from your favorite creators.” The app also syncs podcasts across devices, so you can start listening on your phone and finish on the watch.

The update comes nearly four years to the day since Spotify unveiled its Apple Watch app, offering users the option to play, pause, and skip tracks; shuffle music; and save new discoveries. Later iterations included standalone streaming and the ability for Premium subscribers to download playlists and podcasts to Apple Watch for offline listening.
