The Battery Icon in iOS 16.1 No Longer Looks Full All the Time

Apple has responded to feedback and tweaked the design of the battery percentage icon in iOS 16.1 beta 2.

With the release of iOS 16, users were happy to see Apple had added the ability to see the battery percentage on the status bar. However, although the percentage of battery left is shown within the icon, the battery always looks full. We’re much more used to seeing a battery icon that reacts to the amount of charge left and looking increasingly empty.

As 9To5Mac reports(Opens in a new window), iOS users with access to iOS 16 beta 2 will be happy to hear Apple was listening to feedback and has now fixed this. The percentage is still displayed inside the battery icon, but the battery level now adjusts dynamically with the percentage. A quick glance at your iPhone with the battery icon visible will more easily convey how much charge you have left even if you can’t read the percentage.

Assuming you own an iPhone that supports the new battery icon on the status bar (four models do not), public beta testers should have access to iOS 16.1 beta 2 now. Everyone else will have to wait patiently for Apple to decide 16.1 is ready for prime time and make it available to all iPhones.
