Why We Picked It
As a platform, Google TV offers loads of features like Google Cast and (often hands-free) Google Assistant, which is why we like it. Roku TV is still an excellent interface, though; simple and direct while featuring capable voice search (with recently released smart home device support) and Apple AirPlay. Among Roku TVs, the TCL 6-Series are some of the best. The picture quality is almost identical to the Google TV 6-Series, just with Roku’s platform instead of Google’s.
Who It’s For
If you don’t want Google TV, or simply don’t want a far-field microphone built into your TV at all (the Roku TV 6-Series lacks this feature), this is a good option. The picture is excellent and the price is reasonable. Roku also has an easy-to-use interface, which might be appealing if you’re shopping for a less tech-savvy friend or family member.
