Apple rolled out a new version of its in-ear headphones back in September. The second generation AirPods Pro look the same, but refine an already excellent concept earning the new buds 4.5 stars and and Editors’ Choice badge from our experts. Features like personalized spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, active noise cancellation (ANC), adaptive transparency, and sweat and water resistance make these wireless earbuds a perfect fit for everything from incessant Zoom calls to the most grueling workout sessions. And 6 hours of listening time on a single charge mean they’ll get your through most of the day.
That isn’t to say older generations of AirPods aren’t worth a look (or a listen). Apple’s entry level, less expensive AirPods are in their 3rd generation and also offer personalized spatial audio with dynamic head tracking along with sweat and water resistance, but sans active noise cancellation and with a less secure fit than the Pro model. You’ll still get the same 6 hours of battery life per charge, so if you can live without noise cancellation, you can save some serious cash. If you prefer cans, AirPods Max aren’t sweat or water resistant, but they do have all of the other features the AirPods Pro offer in a comfy over-ear design that comes in various cool colors.
Below are some of the best deals we’ve found on AirPods from retailers outside of Apple. You’ll get the same warranty as if you bought directly from the Apple store, but you’re likely to get a larger discount.
