While the upcoming Amazon Prime Early Access sale on Oct. 11-12 may be a great time to upgrade your TV at a discount, one of the secrets of those sale TVs is that they are often lower-grade or older models that the manufacturer wants to get out the door before moving in next year’s crop. It’s not uncommon for that “doorbuster” deal to have just one or two HDMI outputs or other lower-quality components.
With that in mind, football season is getting underway right now. (Pro-tip for Prime members, you have access to NFL Thursday Night Football.) If you want a brighter, sharper view of your team for the full season instead of just after Thanksgiving, we’ve got some great deals on high-quality screens from producers like Hisense, Samsung, Vizio and others.
Grab some sale savings on these TVs today and enjoy a better viewing experience through next year’s March Madness and beyond.

The Best Deals on TVs Up to 70 Inches
If you’re looking to upgrade, the price difference between a 50-, 55- and 65-inch TV can often be fairly negligible, though prices do start to tick upward when you’re looking at 75-inch and larger screens. It’s important to fit your screen size to your room, though. Don’t squeeze a 55-inch set in a bedroom where a 32-inch will do for an hour of late-night TV before calling it quits.
For resolution, we recommend at minimum a 1080p screen, but most of will probably prefer to take advantage of all the 4K programming on streaming and cable these days. After that, your inputs and your onboard speakers are all worthy of consideration, but nowadays the other main important decision is your smart-TV functionality. Roku, Samsung, Android/Google, and others all have their proprietary ecosystems; if you’re already in one it can be hard to make a switch, so make sure you know what you’re getting in that Smart TV before clicking “add to cart.”
If you’re into gaming or considering a TV for the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, be sure to look out for TVs with 120Hz native refresh rate, HDMI 2.1 ports for resolutions up to 4K 120Hz, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support, and HDR (High Dynamic Range) support. Not all games support 4K 120Hz or VRR, but it may become the standard on most AAA games like Call of Duty.

50-Inch Vizio V-Series 4K Dolby Vision HDR Smart TV
This Vizio gives you 4K UHD resolution plus Dolby Vision support for a more dynamic picture plus full-array LED backlighting. There are just three HDMI inputs here also—worth noting if you prefer plugging in an interface that isn’t Vizio’s SmartCast—but you do have an eARC connection for a soundbar plus HDMI 2.1 compatibility for better refresh rates on your gaming consoles.
55-inch Hisense U8H 4K HDR Mini-LED QLED Google Smart TV
This 55-inch Hisense U8H 4K HDR Mini-LED QLED smart TV delivers 4K resolution—but better. Utilizing Hisense’s exclusive ULED technologies, color, contrast, and brightness are boosted. The 120Hz native refresh rate means every frame will be silky smooth whether you’re gaming or binging shows from your favorite streaming platform.
60-Inch Samsung Q60B 4K QLED Dual-LED Smart TV
The ultra-slim Samsung Q60B uses a Quantum Processor Lite in conjunction with 4K upscaling to deliver the crispest image quality possible. 70-Inch TCL 4-Series 4K HDR Smart Android TV
A 70-inch TV for under $500? We told you this was one of the best times of the year to buy a TV. Though you do get 4K resolution here, the dimmer, less dynamic LED screen with a lower refresh rate (a still-decent 60Hz) and a thinner viewing angle are definitely trade-offs worth considering. With just three HDMI ports onboard, the built-in Chromecast, Google Assistant, and Android TV will definitely come in handy.
70-Inch Samsung 4K Crystal UHD LED Smart TV with HDR
While not Samsung’s latest model, this 4K Crystal UHD LED Smart TV still has all the bells and whistles: HDR, a crystal display, and built-in streaming services. This model also features a universal guide, which organizes your TV content and makes recommendations tailored to your interests.
75-Inch Vizio M7 Series 4K Quantum HDR Smart TV
This is Vizio’s midrange M7 series TV, and the price is right considering its large 75-inch display with Quantum Dot color technology, which offers a wider range of colors than its lower-priced models. The full array backlight with 32 local dimming zones on this TV offers darker blacks than an edge-lit display. Although this TV only has a 60Hz native refresh rate, it does have four current-generation HDMI 2.1 ports and variable refresh rate (VRR) support on select gaming content.
