The Most Scrumptious Waffle Toppings for National Waffle Day

  • There’s a waffle for everyone on this list, especially if you like sweet waffles.

National Waffle day is on August 24th, it’s coming up! Here are all the most delicious, most scrumptious waffle toppings you may never have thought of.

Butter and Peanut Butter

Not only is this combination savory and delicious on toast, but on waffles? It’s even more scrumptious. The butter makes this waffle combo rich and adding peanut butter only adds to the rich, savory combination. If you like cinnamon, sprinkle some of that on as well, or liberally! Powdered sugar is also a delicious addition.

Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate Jimmies

Waffles is a breakfast food, technically, but the best part is you can make it sweet, sweet, sweet! This waffle dish is more of a dessert, but why not celebrate? Adding vanilla ice cream to the top of your waffle along with some jimmies is a sweet treat, and a fun warm waffle and cold ice cream kind of two-in-one. Want sprinkles instead? Do it. Prefer sugar crystals, those work, too. What a scrumptious and sweet waffle treat.

Peanut Butter and Chocolate

Who doesn’t like peanut butter and chocolate? It get’s all melty and warm, too, because of the waffle. Creamy peanut butter would make a drippy, delicious topping. If you wanted a little texture, chunky peanut butter would be great as well. For more texture, sprinkle large chocolate chips on top, or small ones which would melt right away, and right along with the peanut butter. Shaking some powdered sugar on top would add a little sugar and another flavor to this sweet waffle dish.

Chocolate, Coconut and Pecans

Sprinkle with large chocolate chips or chunks, broken pecans and shredded coconut. It’s like an Almond Joy bar but melty and topping a warm waffle. Cream it up with some fluffy whipped cream.

Cookies and Cream

This has got to be one of the most scrumptious ways to eat waffles ever. beyond delicious. Take your favorite cookies, break them up, and shake some all over the top of your waffle. From there, add whip cream. Enjoy as is, or, drizzle a chocolate sauce over the top as well. It will make it pretty, if you like eating pretty food, and add a bit of chocolate to your new favorite cookies and cream waffle.

Marshmallows, Graham Crackers, and Chocolate

S’mores waffles? Let’s do it. Break up graham crackers and add mini chocolate chips, and mini marshmallows to top your waffle. If you want to have this waffle dish and celebrate National S’more’s Day, then today is the day to indulge and try it out. August 10th is National S’more’s day so why not try it on a waffle?

Marshmallows, Graham Crackers, and Fruit Topping

Either way you make these waffles, they will taste great. If you add jelly or jam, it will add another texture and taste to go with the marshmallows and broken up graham crackers. Real fruit, such as strawberry slices or blueberries would add freshness and bright colors to the dish.

Lemon Curd and Raspberry Puree

Adding (basically) lemonade flavor with raspberries and all on top of a waffle, how heavenly? The lemon curd has a tartness, along with raspberries for additional tart and some sweetness. Together they are the perfect toppings for a waffle.

Apples, Peanuts, and Caramel

Caramel apples anyone? It’s almost Fall, after all. This waffle topping combo is too good. Start with a waffle, add the diced apple and cut up peanuts, and drizzle caramel to your heart’s content. This Fall take on waffles has crunchy textures along with a velvety, smooth caramel sauce.

Cinnamon Roll Waffles

To be extra indulgent, first top your waffle with butter. Then add a vanilla glaze, or make an easy one with water, powdered sugar and a small splash of vanilla. Sprinkle a delicious dusting of cinnamon for flavor and looks. If you love cinnamon, and you’re making your waffles homemade, add it to the batter, too.

Which scrumptious waffles do you have to try for your next waffle breakfast, or dessert? Enjoy August 24th if you’re going to celebrate with waffles!
