Thursday Night Football FanDuel Picks: NFL DFS lineup advice for Week 6 Commanders-Bears single-game tournaments

The Commanders will go on the road to face the Bears on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 6. It is not the most exciting matchup, but both teams have some big-play skill guys (Terry McLaurin, David Montgomery) that NFL DFS players will happily put into their FanDuel single-game lineup. On top of that, the lackluster defenses open the door for some interesting value sleepers (Darnell Mooney, J.D. McKissic, Brian Robinson Jr.).

Before we get into our lineup, here are the notable scoring settings for FanDuel single-game contests: The point total for the “MVP” is multiplied by 1.5, but he doesn’t cost any additional money like the “Captain” in DraftKings Showdown contests. FanDuel’s default scoring is half-point PPR and four-point passing TDs, and there are no bonuses for 300-yard/100-yard games like on DraftKings.

FanDuel Single Game DFS Picks: Commanders vs. Bears Week 6 Thursday Night Football

$60,000 budget, need at least one player from each team

MVP (1.5x points): WR Terry McLaurin, Commanders ($13,000)

Most DFS players will opt to put a quarterback in the MVP spot because passing touchdowns count as four points. However, we are going to with McLaurin, who will be targeted often by Carson Wentz. Last week against the Titans, McLaurin produced five receptions (six targets) for 76 yards. The veteran receiver has received six or more targets in four out of five games and recorded 75-plus receiving yards in three out of his past four games. This isn’t a great matchup on paper, but McLaurin always has a lot of big-play upside and can put up a big game against anyone. We’re hoping he’s lightly owned as MVP, which could give us some key differentiation.

FLEX QB Carson Wentz, Commanders ($14,000)

If we have McLaurin as our MVP, it’s only right we put Wentz into our lineup to give us a QB-WR stack. Wentz has been wildly inconsistent this season with 10 touchdown passes, six interceptions, and six fumbles. Despite being turnover-prone through five weeks, the veteran signal-caller is producing 19.86 FanDuel points/game. Wentz is dealing with a mild shoulder injury heading into Thursday night’s game, which could affect his production. However, we saw him throw for 359 yards, two TDs, and an interception last week against the Titans. If Wentz can get a couple of touchdown passes, which he’s done three times this season, he’ll return value.

WEEK 6 FANTASY PICKS: Sleepers | Busts | Start ’em, sit ’em

FLEX WR Curtis Samuel, Commanders ($12,000)

Samuel is a must-start for your FanDuel single-game lineup, as he’s statically the best wide receiver on the Commanders. The versatile veteran currently leads Washington in targets (45), and receptions (32). He’s also second behind McLaurin in receiving yards (281). The Commanders have done a great job of getting him involved in the offense, as he’s averaging 6.4 receptions a game. Samuel will continue to be a favorite target of Wentz, especially with the Bears focusing on McLaurin, who poses a ton of issues on the outside. At a $12,000 salary, we are getting decent value on Samuel, who is producing 11.84 FanDuel points per game.

WEEK 6 DFS LINEUPS: FanDuel | DraftKings

FLEX WR Darnell Mooney, Bears ($9,500)

Mooney is our lone Bears play for this single-game lineup, but we expect him to produce against this less-than-stellar Commanders’ secondary. Washington’s defense is giving up the fourth-most FanDuel points per game to wide receivers (35.2) and the third-most touchdowns (7). Mooney has scored 6.2 and 11.4 FanDuel points over the past two weeks, which is an improvement from the first three games when he had 4.7 combined FanDuel points. We’re hoping the trend continues.

WEEK 6 DFS: Best stacks | Best values

FLEX RB J.D. McKissic, Commanders ($7,500)

McKissic might have a significant role in the Commanders’ passing game on Thursday night. He had five receptions (seven targets) for 37 yards and scored 6.2 FanDuel points last week against the Titans. He had more targets than Antonio Gibson (4) and played more snaps than him (26-20). That’s important to note heading into this game, as the Commanders are integrating rookie Brian Robinson Jr. more into the running game. McKissic might be the predominant pass catcher and could see close to seven targets with Logan Thomas (calf) and Jahan Dotson (hamstring) banged up.
