After dropping their first points of the Ligue 1 season against Monaco over the weekend, PSG look to get back on track with a trip south to visit newly-promoted Toulouse. Champions League play begins next week, and being in top form will be necessary to avoid a slip in the group stage.
A 70th-minute penalty by Neymar provided the only attacking output for PSG, cancelling out Kevin Volland’s first-half opener for Monaco. PSG piled on the pressure, ripping off 18 shots, but could not find the back of the net from open play despite collecting 2.40 xG (expected goals).
PSG will now look to take out their frustration on Toulouse, a newly-promoted club that the Parisians have consistently brushed aside over the years, to the tune of 22 wins in their last 25 meetings across all competitions.
PSG manager Christophe Galtier has a complete first-team squad nearly entirely free of injuries, allowing him to deploy a consistent starting lineup that includes a healthy attacking trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Lionel Messi.
The Sporting News will be following the Toulouse-PSG match live and providing score updates, commentary and highlights as they happen.

120 mins to kick: Kylian Mbappe joined PSG five years ago on this day in a massive deal from AS Monaco. What a signing he’s been! However, he’s still missing a coveted Champions League title. With the Champions League group stage starting next week, PSG will want to be in top form to begin European play.

Toulouse vs. PSG lineups, team news
Toulouse suffered a massive blow to start the year as British striker Rhys Healey, who won the Ligue 2 top goalscorer award last season, tore his ACL just last week. That moves new signing Thijs Dallinga, a 22-year-old Dutch youth international signed this summer from Eredivisie club Excelsior, into a starting striker role. Dutch midfielder Branco van den Boomen will also be expected to contribute goals (12 last season in Ligue 2).
Toulouse projected starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Dupe (GK) — Diarra, Nicolaisen, Rouault, Desler — van den Boomen, Spierings — Ratao, Dejaegere, Aboukhlal — Dallinga.
Toulouse subs (9): (Lineups released one hour prior to kickoff)
Christophe Galtier has established a clear starting XI in his first few weeks at PSG, with few injury concerns to hamper his consistency. That lineup hasn’t featured many of the players who are on their way out of the club in the final hours of the transfer window.
PSG projected starting lineup (3-4-3): Donnarumma (GK) — Ramos, Marquinhos, Kimpembe — Nuno, Verratti, Vitinha, Hakimi — Neymar, Mbappe, Messi.

Under their current Qatari owners, PSG have not only beaten Toulouse on a regular basis, they’ve crushed them. Aside from a pair of negative results in 2016/17, PSG have won 22 of the last 23 against Toulouse in all competitions, with a 1-1 draw in 2014 the only blemish. Across those 22 wins, PSG have outscored Toulouse by a sizable 52-10 margin.
Toulouse started this season well with four points from the first two matches, but the defense has fallen apart, conceding five times over their last two matches against Lorient and Nantes. The goals total is set high at 3.5, but that’s still easily attainable in a match between two teams that love scoring goals.
- Pick: Over 3.5 total goals (-125 on DraftKings)
- Prediction: Toulouse 1-4 PSG
