When ESPN hired Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, the hope was to get the public talking about the “Monday Night Football” broadcasts — just not like this.
In the second quarter of the “Monday Night Football” matchup between the Chiefs and Raiders, Kansas City defensive lineman Chris Jones was called for a questionable roughing the passer penalty that sparked commentary from Aikman.
Aikman, though, had a fairly offensive way of delivering that commentary, with some deeming his comments as misogynistic and sexist:

“My hope is the competition committee looks at this in the next set of meetings and we take the dresses off,” Aikman said during the discourse.

The implication with Aikman’s comments were obvious, and they were less than positively received from the viewing audience. While some pointed out that they agreed with Aikman refuting the terrible call on the field, some also singled out the line as “chauvinistic” and “misogynistic.”
Glad to hear Aikman rail against that call — but you can share your displeasure without the “take the dresses off” sexist comment. Completely unnecessary.

You can make your point without talking about dresses Aikman

In full agreement that the call against Chris Jones was BS, but did Troy Aikman just say that he hopes the competition committee “takes their dresses off?” As in trying to demean them by calling them women? Is he actually serious?

Listen, I don’t love the body weight roughing the passer call either, but Troy Aikman saying “take the dresses off” is hella antiquated and dumb.
Football men, please stop doing this.

Troy Aikman can GET BENT for his “take the dresses off” comment during #MondayNightFootball. Are you freaking kidding me? @NFL I’ll be anxiously awaiting your BS apology statement. That was some crap. Gross.

Did Troy Aikman really just say what I think he said?
Did he really just say that it’s time for the league to”take the dresses off”? The 60’s called, they want their chauvinist back.
Seriously @ESPN… do better than that crap.#MNF

We’ll see if Aikman offers an apology postgame or in the coming days.
