We’re still waiting for Twitter’s premium subscription to relaunch, but when it does, Twitter Blue may end up costing $11 per month for iOS users.
That’s according to The Information(Opens in a new window), after it discovered Twitter had informed some of its employees that the price of a Blue subscription will vary depending on where it’s purchased. When it was available briefly last month, the cost of Blue was $7.99 per month, but that now looks set to change.
Apple claims a 30% commission on in-app purchases, so Twitter Blue purchased through the Twitter iOS app may end up costing $11 per month to counter it. However, iOS users will be given the option of only paying $7 per month if they sign up through the web instead.
If this ends up being the case, we should expect $7 to be the final price everywhere except through the iOS app. It’s unclear if a similar price difference would be applied through the Android Twitter app.

Elon Musk and Apple started a feud late last month on reports that the Twitter app may be removed from the iOS App Store. However, a visit to Cupertino and a meeting with Tim Cook resulted in Musk stating the feud was over. I am left wondering how Cook will react if Twitter does attempt to charge iOS users a much higher price for a Blue subscription, though.
