Updated NFL Top 100 list: Here’s who players voted as the best in the league for 2022

Football fans, brace yourselves. The NFL Top 100 is back for 2022, and soon, sports fans everywhere will be debating the legitimacy of the league’s annual player rankings.

This marks the 12th year of the NFL Top 100. The original experiment has grown into a phenomenon that captivates NFL audiences in the downtime between preseason games and the regular season.

The NFL’s methodology with its Top 100 list is simple. The league polls players and asks them to vote on who they believe are the league’s best players. It then compiles those results and creates the NFL Top 100.

Of course, this list often causes a stir. There are always numerous snubs, surprises and head-scratchers that fans will expound on endlessly. That’s no surprise considering that sports fans enjoy nothing more than debating which players are the best.

But because the players are the ones voting on this list, it is hard for fans to get too angry about it. It has at least some legitimacy, as the players are the ones facing those eligible for the rankings on a weekly basis.

Still, the list draws plenty of reactions from fans — positive and negative — and players named to the list are often humbled by it. Not every player is happy; some will debate whether they should be ranked higher while others will question why they are omitted.

At the end of the day, though, the NFL’s exercise is in good fun and meant to create conversation.

The NFL is releasing its 2022 Top 100 list over a two-week span in August. Below is a recap of the rankings that the league has released to date.
