Upgrade Your Desk With a Prime Day Computer Monitor Deal

Amazon’s latest shopping holiday, the Prime Early Access Sale, runs from Oct. 11-12, and manufacturers looking to get ahead of the game are offering discounts on tech products they’d like to move for the holiday season. While fun devices like smartwatches, earbuds, and new phones get all the glory, we’ve found some big discounts on monitors.

If it’s been a while since you shopped for a new monitor (or if you’ve been struggling with whatever cheap display you have at the office), you might be surprised at how far your dollar goes. You can get a good-sized, high-resolution screen for a few hundred bucks, and even some with features like a curved display, eye-strain reduction filters, and extra ports for charging devices or adding storage space.

The Best Prime Early Access Monitor Deals

When shopping for your new screen, you should first decide the size you need and how much use it will get. If you’re replacing a primary monitor, we’d suggest getting one with a nice sharp resolution: 1080p is standard these days but 4K screens are available for a sharper view. A good refresh rate (60Hz or higher) keeps you scrolling smoothly as well.

Look for multiple video inputs if you find yourself switching between devices—the option to keep them all plugged in at once is a real timesaver. Some monitors also offer touch-screen capabilities, storage card inputs, and USB hookups; if you don’t have a separate speaker setup, many monitors also have built-in sound capabilities.

One final thing to consider: If your computer has an HDMI output, you could also use a regular TV as a primary or secondary screen, and we’ve found plenty of deals for those as well.

Samsung M5

Samsung M5 Series 24-Inch Smart Streaming Monitor

The Samsung M5 series will be a worthwhile purchase for multi-taskers who use their monitors for both work and leisure. With streaming capability built into its 24-inch 1,920-by-1,080 FHD frame, it’s equal parts computer monitor and smart TV. Apple AirPlay 2 integration allows you to use it as a wireless dual monitor for your MacBook and you can use the same screen to watch Netflix, Hulu, or other streaming services—which will save you valuable desk and wall space.

Acer SB220Q

Acer SB220Q 21.5-Inch 1080p IPS Monitor

This base-level Full HD monitor is smaller than most at just 21.5 inches, but you get an above-average refresh rate of 75Hz and an incredible contrast ratio of 100,000,000: 1. The ultra-thin design means it won’t take up much desk real estate and the included stand allows you to adjust the screen for your viewing comfort. We probably wouldn’t use this as our main display, but it’s the right price for a second screen or a backup panel.

Where can I get the best deal on a computer monitor?

Amazon and Walmart are reliable stores for monitor deals, but don’t forget about Newegg, too. If you’re a Dell fan, you can often snag a deal directly from the PC maker, especially if you’re bundling it with a PC purchase.

Which computer monitor brand is best?

Our roundup of the best computer monitors is dominated by Dell and its Alienware gaming brand. But our most recent Readers’ Choice survey for monitors crowned Asus as the brand to beat.

Which monitor is best for daily use?

The Dell UltraSharp 27 4K USB-C Hub Monitor (U2723QE) is our pick for best overall business monitor. It isn’t cheap, but it delivers loads of connection and adjustment choices, amping up an extra-poppy panel with wide color gamut and superb contrast. For something more affordable, we like the HP 24mh 23.8-Inch Display.
