The Americans are coming off a 7-1 drubbing of Switzerland on Thursday. While Switzerland made the first very competitive, their legs wore off by the second, and USA potted five goals in the middle frame to help them get the win.

Logan Cooley tracker
Each game, we will highlight one player on Team USA to follow.
For the contest against Austria, we will focus on Logan Cooley. The University of Minnesota commit was selected with the No. 3 pick in the 2022 NHL Draft by the Coyotes. He’s picked up a goal and assist in the first two games of the tournament.
Cooley is a responsible, two-way center with high offensive upside. He was one of the leading point scorers for the U.S. National Team Development Program this past season, thanks to his exceptional speed and ability to move the puck efficiently and quickly.
1st period
Cooley shows off his passing early on in the first, as he feeds a pass from the wall to the far dot, finding Matthew Coronato all alone, who dances around Leon Sommer and finds the back of the net. Great vision by Cooley on the goal as he picks up his third point of the tournament.
We’ve seen a handful of Michigan attempts, and Cooley adds to that list. He attempts the lacrosse move form behind the net, but can’t finish the play. He’s got some skill in his toolkit that we’ve seen flashes of at times.
