A shocking tragedy unfolded over the weekend at Coto Coto Stadium in Chilca, south of the Peruvian city of Huancayo, during a local soccer match. The game, featuring C.D. Juventud Bellavista and U.D. Just moments after the referee halted the game, disaster struck. As the players were leaving the field, a lightning bolt hit defender José Hugo de la Cruz Meza, killing him instantly. Despite swift medical efforts, his death was confirmed at the hospital shortly afterward.
