The Browns were handed a loss on Sunday, and a fan was handed a ban.
More than a handful of Browns fans were probably very upset with the way Cleveland lost to the Jets in Week 2, and at least one of them was visibly aggressive about it.
A fan was videoed throwing a bottle at Cleveland owner Jimmy Haslam as he was making his way back into the tunnel after Garrett Wilson’s game-tying touchdown on Sunday afternoon.
The #Browns have identified and plan to ban a fan who threw a bottle that struck owner Jimmy Haslam late in Sunday’s loss to the #Jets, per sources.
Here’s my video of what could’ve been a dangerous situation. The team is cooperating with authorities. https://t.co/a1mvjAkD9e pic.twitter.com/TwuPxr3655

The team also issued a statement in the wake of the incident:

Fan, player and staff safety is the top priority in our building and behavior that puts others in danger will not be tolerated. Luckily no one was harmed in this incident and as a standard practice, we’ve cooperated with law enforcement authorities and security video footage of the object being thrown is in the appropriate hands. We will have no further comment on this matter.
Emotions have seemingly boiled over: Some fans of Cleveland were upset with the way Haslam has handled the team since he bought the team in 2012, and that disdain has only been heightened with their controversial trade of Deshaun Watson this offseason.
Still, that doesn’t excuse throwing things at people. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Browns have identified the fan and plan to ban him from the stadium.
But, to be fair, at this point that seems like more of a reward than a punishment.
