Visible Reshuffles Plans: No More Party Pay, But Solo Service Is Now $10 Cheaper

One of the cheaper ways to get Verizon’s network just got cheaper for solo users but more expensive for customers who maxed out its friends-with-rate-benefits option.

Visible, a virtual network operator owned by Verizon, announced(Opens in a new window) this changeup of rate plans Wednesday. In place of a $40 Visible Unlimited plan, it now offers the $30 Visible Plan(Opens in a new window), which includes the same basic features: unlimited data, including mobile hotspot without a data cap but limited to 5Mbps on a single device, on Verizon’s 4G and low-band 5G Nationwide network. As before, that rate covers taxes and fees, which will make the new plan among the cheapest options for unlimited data.

In return, Visible is closing its Party Pay group discount(Opens in a new window), although customers on Visible Unlimited have until Oct. 18(Opens in a new window) to opt into it and keep their lower rates as long as they stay on that plan.

Party Pay let people cut their costs by signing up together with friends, family, or complete strangers, with Visible billing each member separately. Two people would pay $35 each instead of $40, three would pay $30 each, and four or more would pay $25 apiece.

“Our members loved the discounts, but not the hoops they had to jump through to get it,” Visible’s post says.

Visible is also adding a new $45 Visible+ plan that adds Verizon’s speedier C-band and millimeter-wave 5G, which the service and its parent firm collectively label “Ultrawide Band 5G,” as well as 50GB of a “Premium Network Experience.” Visible+ also throws in free roaming in Canada and Mexico, 500 minutes of voice calling a month from the US to 30 countries, and unlimited texting from the US to “200+ countries.”

We don’t yet know which countries, because as of Wednesday afternoon a help document about international service(Opens in a new window) referred to a nonexistent table listing them.
