Week 14 fantasy football projections, rankings from Draft Sharks

If this week’s fantasy rankings — and, by proxy, your start ’em, sit ’em decisions — seem to be “missing something,” it’s because they are. Six teams (Bears, Packers, Falcons, Colts, Commanders, Saints) are on bye, leaving fewer options for your lineups. Having a reliable set of weekly fantasy projections and rankings is as important as ever in a week like this, and the more expert analysis, opinions, and stats you can absorb, the better it will make your Week 14 lineup decisions.

To prove we truly believe in the “more is better” approach to fantasy football research, we’re happy to offer SN Fantasy readers an exclusive look at Draft Sharks’ award-winning weekly rankings and projections. We’ll also highlight players at each position who stand out in our rankings compared to theirs so you get multiple perspectives on a few of the biggest start-or-sit headaches. Week 14 Fantasy Football Projections, Rankings from Draft Sharks

Week 14 fantasy QB projections, rankings

Spotlight Player: Kyler Murray, Cardinals vs. Patriots (SN Ranking: 13 | DS Ranking: 6)

It will be tough for Murray owners to sit him this week, but we don’t like him nearly as much as Draft Sharks. He’s been held under 200 passing yards in each of his past two games and under 223 yards in four of his past five games. In order to pay off as a QB1, he needs to rack up yards and probably score with his legs. Over his past four contests, he’s averaged 45.5 rushing yards, so his floor is still solid, but a tough matchup against New England’s ninth-ranked pass defense will limit Murray’s ceiling.

Week 14 fantasy RB projections, rankings

Spotlight Player: Leonard Fournette, Buccaneers @ 49ers (SN PPR Ranking: 29 | DS Ranking: 19)

Fournette played 15 more snaps and had one more touch than Rachaad White in Week 13, and he was also more impressive on the ground, totaling 49 yards on 10 carries compared to 28 yards on nine carries for White. Both were active and impressive in the passing game, with White hauling in the game-winning TD after a costly fumble earlier in the fourth quarter. Ultimately, this situation remains a true committee, so it’s tough to be too high or too low on either back based simply on workload. That said, we are lower on both because of their matchup, as San Francisco allows the fewest fantasy points per game (FPPG) to RBs. Both backs get bumps up in PPR formats, but we still think they’re better suited as flexes as opposed to RB2s.

Spotlight Player: Raheem Mostert, Dolphins vs. Chargers (SN PPR Ranking: 14 | DS Ranking: 24)

The Dolphins’ backfield is a total question mark after Mostert played 11 more snaps than Jeff Wilson Jr.  and received seven carries to JWJ’s one last week. Does this mean Mostert is the lead back in Miami? Not necessarily, but he’s at least on par with Wilson Jr. after appearing to fall behind him on the depth chart in recent weeks. Both have value against L.A.’s 29th-ranked run defense, but Draft Sharks favors Wilson Jr. slightly over Mostert, perhaps because of the trends prior to Week 13. Considering both are used about equally in the passing game, we’re ranking the more explosive Mostert higher this week.

SN’s WEEK 14 PPR RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kickers

Week 14 fantasy WR projections, rankings

Spotlight Player: George Pickens, Steelers vs. Ravens (SN PPR Ranking: 26 | DS Ranking: 39)

Pickens might be more hype than substance at this point — and that’s not a knock on his skills. He’s clearly talented, but the Steelers’ passing game needs a lot of work before the rookie pass-catcher can be considered a consistent fantasy play. We’re still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt against Baltimore’s 25th-ranked pass defense, though. He’s always a threat for a big play, and it seems like only a matter of time before he has a big breakout game. We know Pittsburgh will struggle to run against Baltimore, so we’re banking on more targets for the rookie. Draft Sharks is being more conservative, which makes sense considering Pickens had just one catch and two yards last week.

Spotlight Player: Michael Gallup, Cowboys vs. Texans (SN PPR Ranking: 47 | DS Ranking: 32)

Gallup scored twice last week and has seen 15 targets over the past two games, so he’s definitely trending up. Draft Sharks is taking notice, but we’re still skeptical about Gallup’s week-to-week value. Last week’s scores were his first since Week 4, and he’s yet to top 63 yards in a game. Houston has actually held down WRs this year (fifth-fewest FPPG allowed), and Dallas will likely be content to just run most of the game, thus limiting Gallup’s floor and ceiling.

Week 14 fantasy TE projections, rankings

Spotlight Player: Mike Gesicki, Dolphins @ Chargers (SN PPR Ranking: 12 | DS Ranking: 24)

If you only look at Gesicki’s game log, you’d have to side with Draft Sharks on his ranking this week. He’s caught just three-of-seven targets for 34 yards in his past four games combined. Yuck. His snaps also dropped noticeably last week, which is especially concerning since Miami was playing from behind much of the game. Is the party over for Gesicki? It might be, but we’re still willing to bet he’ll be more involved in a much more favorable matchup. The Chargers allow the 11th-most FPPG to TEs, and this game figures to be a shootout. In a week with six teams on bye and several other key TEs injured, we’re willing to put Gesicki on the TE1 bubble and hope Miami remembers that it has another solid pass-catching option, especially in the red zone.

Week 14 fantasy defense projections, rankings

Spotlight Player: New York Jets @ Bills (SN Ranking: 21 | DS Ranking: 8)

The Jets have quietly been one of the steadier fantasy D/STs this year, and in a week with six teams on bye, it’s not unreasonable to start them even in a bad matchup. We’re not totally on board with that, though, based largely on the matchup. Buffalo has had some turnover issues lately, but it still racks up points (at least 24 in four straight games) and limits sacks to around two per game. Moreover, the Bills have tightened up in the past three games, turning it over just twice. If the Jets can’t keep the score low or get to Josh Allen, then their floor is much lower than usual.
