Oklahoma and Nebraska play the second half of their home and home Saturday, as the Cornhuskers host the No. 6 Sooners for Big Noon Saturday.
For Oklahoma, much like last year, the game presents more than a rivalry matchup — It’s the embodiment of a trap game. Nebraska is beginning life without Scott Frost after firing him this week, with Mickey Joseph taking over.
In that regard, the teams are on familiar ground. The Sooners are in the debut season of former Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables, and it’s going swimmingly thus far. Oklahoma won its first two games by a combined score of 78-16, but with those games coming against UTEP and Kent State, it’s fair to say Nebraska will be its first test of the year.
Dillon Gabriel has lived up to the bill as OK’s quarterback early, whereas time will tell if Casey Thompson continues to find his groove under Joseph coming off a strong week.

While this rivalry may not have the luster it once did, Nebraska is looking to play spoiler after taking Oklahoma to the wire in Norman las season. Perhaps they can finish the job in Lincoln.
This rivalry does run deep. Oklahoma leads the series 46-38-3 and has won six of the last seven matchups, including last year’s 23-16 win in the two teams’ first meeting since 2010.
