Racing fans have been waiting for the final day of the NASCAR Cup Series regular season to determine who will be the two drivers that complete the playoff field. They will have to wait another day, as rain on Saturday postponed the race at Daytona to Sunday.
Ryan Blaney enters the 2022 Coke Zero Sugar 400 without a win, and he’s currently on the outside looking in for a playoff spot as the NASCAR Cup Series regular season enters its final race. But he has to like his chances.
Blaney won the race at the Daytona International Speedway a season ago to send him to the playoffs as the second-seeded driver behind eventual series champion Kyle Larson. He also finished fourth in the Daytona 500 to start this season.
Based on points and tiebreakers, he would appear to have the best chance at reaching the playoffs. The only way he can miss the playoffs is if a driver currently outside the playoff picture wins the race and Martin Truex Jr. earns at least 26 more points than Blaney in the race.
