Woman begs airlines for ‘adult-only flights’ after child screams for entire trip

A woman has asked why airlines don’t put on ‘adult-only flights’ after she spent one three-hour journey listening to a child scream and kick the back of her chair

Travelling for hours on end is exhausting in general, but for those of us without children, getting on public transport to be greeted by an unhappy baby can make a two-hour flight or train journey feel like a lifetime. But one woman has said there’s a very simple solution that could stop child-free adults from having to listen to kids screaming on planes – by having the airlines create adult-only flights.

The woman, named Mo, filmed a video of herself on a flight where all that could be heard was the sounds of a child crying in the seat behind her, and claimed that she had dealt with the noise for the entirety of her three-hour flight, as well as the feeling of the same youngster kicking the back of her chair.

And Mo then said she would happily pay “so much money” to be able to book a seat on an adult-only plane, which would mean she could enjoy some peace and quiet while travelling.

In a TikTok video posted to her @mooorganic account, she said: “Why isn’t there such a thing as adult-only flights? I would pay so much money.

“The flight was 3 hours and I listened to this the entire time.”

In a comment, the woman then also added: “I have noise cancelling headphones, the child was well over five years old, and they sat directly behind me while kicking my chair as the mother slept.”

Commenters on the video were split by Mo’s adult-only flight idea though, as many said the child’s screaming was likely harder for the mum to deal with than anyone else – as she has to cope with it all the time, and not just on a flight.

One person said: “As a woman who used to get extremely frustrated by this, I promise you now (as a mum) the mothers are already stressed because we know everyone else is mad.”

While another added: “It’s almost like the public are allowed to be in public.”

And a third wrote: “No one is more stressed or uncomfortable as a parent of a crying baby on a flight.”

But others said they could see where Mo was coming from, as even if you’re an empathetic person most of the time, we all have days where we’re sensitive to loud and harsh noises.

Someone said: “Some of you are acting like you’ve never complained about kids crying. It’s normal to be bothered.”

As someone else wrote: “I am a mother and I agree! I would pay more for an adult-only flight. Why is everyone so pressed? She isn’t suggesting to throw them off board!”

Mo’s video has also received some replies in video form, such as one from Tyson Clifton, who said he gave up his window seat for a father and a child when a passenger refused to move.

On the surface, Tyson’s actions seemed selfless, but he had ulterior motives for the move – as it meant he wouldn’t have to sit next to the “screaming child” himself.
