A woman travelling on a plane was left shocked after a fellow passenger’s ‘seat etiquette’ as she draped her long hair over the back of the chair for the entire flight

When it comes to travelling on a plane, there are many unspoken ‘rules’ – such as who gets which armrest, when to close the blind on the window and whether or not it’s ok to ask someone to switch seats with you. But one passenger has caused a stir over travel etiquette after she draped her long hair over the back of her seat for the entire journey.
Fellow passenger Julie Christensen was on an Aegean Airlines flight from Athens to Amsterdam on Thursday [29th September] to visit family when the long locks suddenly dropped in front of her.
The 32-year-old food blogger boarded the flight and took her seat at 8am and was gobsmacked when a woman sat down in front and ‘immediately’ flung dark hair over the back of the chair.

The surprised passenger took a video showing the hair in front of her – which even covered her food tray table, with strands intruding over the top of her open cup.
Julie ended up putting up with the hair for a whopping five hours in total after her three-hour flight was delayed for a further two hours.
The blogger and social media manager claims that she found the situation ‘weird’ but was ‘too tired’ to say anything about it and instead decided to just laugh it off.
However her message to other travellers who might consider doing similar was firm as she suggests they ‘keep their hair to themselves’.
Julie, from Stavanger, Norway, said: “It was so weird – she started draping her hair over immediately, and she was being very normal about it.
“At first I was really surprised, I thought ‘Oh, we’re doing this?’.
“I didn’t see her face at all and she didn’t acknowledge me. I just looked at the guy next to me and he laughed.
“I thought about whether I should say something but I was so tired, so I just laughed about it. Then so much time passed that it felt too late to say something.
“I wasn’t annoyed or anything, because I had so much leg room.
“It was beautiful, gorgeous hair and looked very nice and clean.
“I wondered ‘Why would you throw your beautiful clean hair all over this dirty plane’, but I guess it’s up to her.
“Keep your hair to yourself, that’s my general advice for travelling – especially when you’ve done such a nice job of brushing it!”
Julie continued to admit that she was tempted to put the passenger’s locks in a braid, and has now got used to people’s unusual quirks as she travels the world visiting restaurants.
“I was tempted to braid it, but I’m not very good at it. I wasn’t going to put anything in her hair or anything, I’m not so evil,” she added.
“There was a lot of weird stuff happening on this particular flight, with people taking their shoes off and sticking their feet on your armrest.
“I’ve been to 10 countries since April so I’m used to the weird travelling habits people have.
“Maybe that’s why I didn’t react so much to the hair, I just thought ‘Oh well, another day in the life!'”
Julie shared the hair video on TikTok, where commenters made their feelings about the passenger’s lack of ‘travel etiquette’ clear.
One said: “Some people have no consideration.”
Another wrote: “People just forget how to act the second they step into an airport.”
A third replied: “The nerve on some people…she doesn’t want her hair to touch the seat. I would definitely close the tray.”
Another added: “See how many braids you can make before she notices.”
A spokesperson for Aegean Airlines said: “We definitely want ‘all’ our passengers to feel comfortable on board… though we didn’t have that in mind. We always need to think about the co-passenger.”
