People are gobsmacked by the simple yet incredibly effective hack that banishes the age-old issue of butter being too hard to spread when taken straight from the fridge – but others have pointed out a potential flaw with the kitchen trick

Sometimes nothing hits the spot like a piece of toast slathered in heaps of butter, but equally, there’s nothing more frustrating than reaching for a fresh packet of the good stuff only to realise that it’s too hard to spread after being in the fridge.
One of the biggest bugbears in the kitchen, some people will plump for a spreadable version or margarine to avoid the perils of ruining your toast with cold slabs of butter that’s impossible to spread. We take our bread very seriously in the UK, as more than 63 billion slices are consumed by hungry Brits each year.

If you’re the type of person who can’t stray away from the delicious taste of ‘real’ butter, but find yourself mumbling under your breath when the golden ingredient is too hard to spread on toast, one woman may have found the answer to your prayers as she’s found a ‘jaw-dropping’ way to get around the problem.
Dubbing the clever trick a ‘life hack’, the woman took to TikTok to share her revelation and people are seriously shocked by it.
The social media user, who posts under the handle @ roxy.369, filmed a clip of someone using a small sieve to break up the butter with ease, making it easy to spread even when it’s come straight from the fridge.
The woman explained in the comments: “This is hard butter right out of the fridge and this means you can spread it no problem”.
The butter comes away easily from the block in small shavings, meaning it will be instantly spreadable for those who can’t wait to slather it on toast.
The video has since gone viral on the platform, with a huge 2.5 million likes on TikTok to date. Thousands of people flooded to the comments section to share their wonder at the unusual trick, while others questioned the aftermath of using the miniature sieve.
One shocked person wrote “the way my jaw dropped” while another added “It took 10x before my brain worked through how simple it is but never would have come to me. Thank you kitchen god”.
Others were also impressed by the life hack, with one writing “wait this is so useful” and another commenting “that’s pretty cool”.
Despite receiving heaps of praise, other social media users were unsure of the tip as they questioned how the woman cleans the butter-filled sieve after use.
One person said: “I need the hack for cleaning it afterwards” while another joked “cleaning karma coming right up”.
Some commenters mocked others for moaning about the clean-up and suggested using hot soapy water to bring the sieve up gleaming.
