Decorating your home for the festive season can be incredibly exciting. If you’re a huge Christmas fan, there’s nothing quite like putting some Crimbo pyjamas on, getting a mug of mulled wine in hand, and decking the halls with boughs of holly whilst you listen to a Yuletide playlist.
If you’re working with a smaller space, but are still looking to spread festive cheer without a massive tree taking up half your room, you’re in luck as one interiors-savvy woman has shared a clever festive trick
Eniko, who posts under username @mydarkhome_ on Instagram, has got you covered with her handy light Christmas tree hack – and she says it ‘costs less than a tenner’.
Instead of a bulky tree, Eniko used a string of Christmas lights to create a tree-like effect on her wall, and the results are stunning.
Eniko begins by attaching the lights at a ‘point’ – the highest and thinnest part of the ‘tree’ – which can be done with either double-sided sticky tape, small nails, or blue tack. She then snakes the design downwards in a tree shape, with the ‘branches’ getting longer and wider as she continues.
When she’s finished applying the tree to the wall, she then fixes a star at the top of the tree as a final touch, and the video then shows the lights glittering. The finished result looks lovely, and would be a great addition to any home to get it feeling ultra festive.
The woman explained that she got her copper string lights from Amazon. You can pick up a similar set for as little as £1.99 on the website. Meanwhile, other retailers including Wilko, B&Q, The Range and This Works all have cheap star decorations that costs as low as 99p.
In the comments, people were quick to compliment the woman’s idea, with some referring to the tree as ‘practical’ for them.
One wrote: “This is awesome! You’ve shown me a way that would actually be practical for me. Thank you so much!”
Another commented: “Love love love this idea – looks sooo magically festive!”
“Great idea for small living rooms”, someone praised, whilst another wrote “this is genius”.
One mum said that she already does this, writing: “I do this and then hang our stockings on it! We have a mantel to hang them on but we love our stocking tree every year!”
Others commented with love-heart eyes emojis to show they loved the idea.
