If you’ve ever fancied a dramatic change to your hair, then you probably know the nervous feeling you get when you sit in the chair at the hairdresser’s and hope your stylist shares your vision for what the finished result should look like. And, unfortunately, you likely also know the feeling of utter heartbreak when it turns out that they, in fact, did not.

That’s the feeling one woman online is currently enduring after the “worst thing you can imagine” happened at a recent visit to the hairdressers. The woman explained she wanted blonde highlights added to her hair alongside an ash brown colour on the rest of her hair – but was left horrified when her locks turned green.

She said she had henna in her hair from a previous salon visit which caused the bleach to turn her hair green, and while she knows that it’s “normal” for that to happen, she had assumed the hairdresser would have done something to get the colour out of her hair before finishing her cut.

The woman was also baffled to discover the layers she had asked for had turned out wonky and looked nothing like the “bouncy and pretty” style she had asked for before the trim began.

In a video posted to her @pali.salwa TikTok account, she said: “I went to the hairdresser’s yesterday, and the worst thing you could imagine happened to my hair. I wanted to get blonde streaks or highlights in my hair, and I’ve got henna in my hair so when they put the bleach in my hair it went green – which is perfectly fine, it’s normal when that happens.

“I asked for layers because I wanted it to look bouncy and pretty, and I wanted a sort of cool ash brown in my hair. But this is how I looked when I left that salon. I’m literally shaking. This is what I looked like from the back. The owner also spent time trying to convince me that this [green] was silver. [She said] it’s a platinum blonde silver.

“My mum basically stayed up all night with me trying to fix my hair. It’s still alright, it’s not as bad as it was, but literally nothing was covering that green. And they let me walk out like that! They charged me and let me walk out like that.

“The thing is, it’s not like they told me it’s not doable, they were full like ‘Yeah we can do it, it might not be the exact ash brown colour that you want but we can do it ash brown’. It was just terrible.”

The woman, from Sydney, Australia, also said she showed her stylist a picture of the exact style she wanted and was told it was “doable”, even though the final result was nothing like what she had asked for.

Commenters on the video were equally shocked by the cut, with one hairdresser even stating the end result was “wrong on so many levels”.

One person said: “Oh my god, it’s butchered.”

While another added: “Oh my god, I’m crying for you. Your hair was beautiful [before]. Why can’t they just be honest? [They should] apologise and try to help instead of defending their negligence.”

And a third wrote: “As a hairdresser myself, this is just wrong on so many levels.”
