Woman fumes as husband books holidays for the next 18 months without consulting her

Her husband really loves Landmark Trust holidays and they have so far been on about 15 of these trips, so the wife was less than impressed to find her husband had booked five more

A woman has been left fuming after her husband booked all their holidays up to the end of 2023 without consulting her first. The person took to the ‘Am I Being Unreasonable?’ forum on Mumsnet to explain that her husband loves architecturally interesting buildings and so is a big fan of a Landmark Trust holidays, which has inspired his getaways of choice, leaving her feeling left out.

In the post, the woman who remained anonymous stated: “The Landmark Trust is his go-to place for family holidays. So far, we’ve been on about 15 of them. They are popular, and so they book up quickly. But he told me the other day (our wedding anniversary in fact…) that he’s booked 5 holidays up to the end of 2023, all at Landmark properties!”

The author of the post was less than impressed to hear this and states that while she does not have a long list of places she really wants to go, she is starting to feel like these same holidays are a bit boring and formulaic.

She said: “Plus, they are not necessarily in great locations – it is about the building rather than the location – so you end up pottering around a relatively unremarkable part of the UK.”

Also, the amenities in the properties can often leave a lot to be desired for this woman.

“I enjoy a few creature comforts on holiday – embarrassed to say I quite like a washing machine,” said the author of the post.

“The children get covered in mud and I spend my holiday hand washing their clothes at a Landmark…. The cooking facilities are ok, but we seem to spend every holiday not eating out either- so I am cooking all holiday too.

“And then there are no soft carpets or luxurious blankets – a Landmark holiday is the kind when you need to remember to take your thermals and slippers.”

She often feels bad about not enjoying them as much but says she finds the holiday quite depressing and does not look forward to it.

Many have been quick to support the wife in response as one person wrote: “Absolutely not being unreasonable! I would hate it if my husband did this. Have you explained to him your feelings about these holidays?”

While another said: “It should be a joint choice. Your holiday, his holiday etc. Take it in turns. I’d just tell him he’d have to cancel some and he shouldn’t book anything without consulting me.”
