A woman had to do a double-take after she recognised the face of her beloved late dog in her bath mat, and believes it’s a sign of ‘something special’ after her death

Tonya couldn’t believe her eyes that morning

A woman burst into tears after discovering the face of her dead dog in her bathroom mat. Tonya Hussey, 27, from Warrington, couldn’t believe her eyes when her late pooch Bling appeared in the fluffy rug one morning.

With a defined nose, mouth and eyes, she says the likeliness to her beloved pup was uncanny. Tonya lost her seven-year-old Lhasa Apso in 2019, then she did a double-take one year after her death, when she woke up to see a striking resemblance of Bling embedded in her bath mat. Tonya says it’s a sign of “something special” – and dog lovers agreed.

Tonya shared the image on Facebook, where it racked up 900 likes and left social media users shocked and teary-eyed.

“I walked into the bathroom when I woke up one morning and I had been feeling really down since I lost her,” Tonya said.

“I noticed a face and it’s only until I looked at it closer I instantly thought that it was her. I made the connection within a few seconds.

“It brought tears to my eyes but I felt reassured she is now at peace. I do believe it’s a sign of something special.”

The unusual bath mat discovery touched the hearts of many grieving dog owners, who shared their condolences.

“Omg that’s a spitting image,” wrote one person, while another said: “She is still looking out for you.”

“Had the same experience with my dog, he appeared in the sky after he passed away, signs they are with us no matter what” someone commented.

Another person was close to tears, writing: “Almost made me cry.”

Tonya explained that she was left heartbroken when Bling suddenly died from an accident.

During her short life, the adventurous canine accompanied her owner on many mountain hikes and loved the outdoors.

Tonya said: “She meant the world to me. She was very loving but could also be stubborn when it came to listening and she didn’t like strangers.

“Bling loved sitting in the window at home, watching the world go by and she loved climbing mountains with us all.

“In the seven years of her life she climbed Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, Skiddaw, Whernside in Yorkshire and Scafell Pike. She was like a posh pooch! She only ate chicken.”

This is not the first time Tonya has been given a sign from a deceased loved one.

She said: “Years ago, my dad took a photo of his BMW at a car park and we all noticed a shadow in the back of the car, which I believe was my grandad.

“I could even see the outlining of his St Helens shirt. I do believe there is something in life after death. Even if it’s just one sign to say they are now at peace.”
