‘Tis the season for glitz and glamour, as Christmas parties have been in full swing throughout December. As the big day approaches, we all want to look our best – even if it’s to lie on the sofa with a tub of Heroes in hand. Sadly, it doesn’t always go to plan, as one woman found out during a disaster hair cut.
In a bid to freshen up her hair ahead of the festive period, Deanna Woodfield chose to get some bangs cut in, but immediately regretted the decision. We’ve all been there: your hairdresser got too scissor happy and chopped off far too much length, or you got fixated on a trendy hair style that went painfully wrong in the salon chair. However, the 25-year-old’s hair cut was so bad that she’s now dubbed herself ‘terrible bangs girl’ online.
Taking to TikTok to share her nightmare experience, New Zealander Deanna filmed an exposé of the bangs in question while fighting back the tears.
Hiding her fringe behind her hands ahead of the big reveal, she explained: “I’ve never had one of those nightmare hairdressing experiences, and I went in and I asked for curtain bangs. Oh my god, I don’t even wanna look, it’s so awful, it’s so awful.”
“What is this? I don’t know what to do. It’s so horrible”, Deanna adds after revealing her incredibly short bangs amidst her tears.
In true overly-polite fashion, the 25-year-old didn’t complain about the hair cut while in the salon, and accepted the service happily.
“I just walked out I said thank you and I walked out. Oh my God, what has she done?
“I don’t even know what I’m gonna do to fix it. Oh my God.
“Oh my gosh, it’s so awful, oh my gosh. I’ve gotta [sic] go to a Christmas party. I felt so bad for her, she didn’t mean to do it.

“She thought I wanted actual bangs. I’ve had bangs before and I hated them. Oh my God, what is this? What am I going to do?
“I wanted it to go all swoopy and it looks awful.”
Concluding the clip, Deanna added: “I look awful. She ruined it. I was having such a good day too.”
People flocked to the comments section on the viral video, posted under the handle @deanna_woodfield, which has amassed 4.1 million views so far. Many shared their sympathy for Deanna – offering advice on how she can salvage the hair cut.
Many suggested that the hair dresser didn’t know what curtain bangs were, as one wrote: “I convinced most stylists don’t know how to properly cut curtain bangs. It’s happened to me sooo many times”.
Another joked: “Curtain bangs? Looks like the whole window is open and theres [sic] a breeze!”
Showering Deanna with advice on what to do, one TikToker suggested: “Turn it into a full fridge until it grows out a little, then it will be long enough to style as curtain bangs”.
Another added: “Curtain bangs, these are NOT. But you can make it work until they grow out. Straighten the middle to make regular bangs… or try to curl back to blend?”
A third TikToker complimented Deanna’s hair cut, writing: “You actually look really cute with a fringe”.
Ahead of her Christmas party, which she was now dreading thanks to the ‘nightmare’ hair cut, Deanna shared a follow-up video to reassure her followers that she’d found a short-term solution.
She slicked her hair back into a tight ponytail, leaving no bangs in sight, and people said she looked ‘gorgeous’ for her big do.
