A woman says she now refuses to allow her mother-in-law and sister-in-law to try any of her food after they blasted it as “freaky”. She says this isn’t the first time her mother-in-law has made such comments

A woman has found herself at odds with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law after growing tired of them making personal remarks about her cooking. The 35-year-old woman, who is from the middle east, had been preparing to host her German in-laws for dinner, and wanted to rustle up one of her favourite dishes.
The home cook, who is currently pregnant, had hoped to serve her in-laws roasted lamb neck, a dish of “extremely soft and juicy meat” she compares to ox tail. Unfortunately, her mother-in-law and sister-in-law expressed vocal disgust at the very idea, telling her “they’re not savages”.
They soon changed their minds after clapping eyes on the delicious-looking meal she’d set out for herself on the table, but, unfortunately for them, they weren’t permitted so much as a single bite.

Taking to Reddit, where she goes by the username u/Badassfrau, the fed-up daughter-in-law recalled: “They suggested they cook their own dinner since they’re afraid I will cook something ‘freaky’ so I said fine, all better than cooking for everyone and went ahead and made the lamb roast.
“Once we were at the dinner table, they noticed that the lamb looks delicious. Extremely soft and juicy meat just as I’d explained to them before. So they wanted to try it and then I said no, I cooked only enough for me and I can’t risk them becoming ‘savages’. Now they are all upset and saying I ruined dinner. And my friend thinks I should have let it go.”
Her mother-in-law already has form in this particular area, having previously referred to her bag of broad beans as ‘chicken food’.
She’s now wondering whether she should have just dropped the argument and has turned to her fellow Reddit users for advice. Many were left drooling at the very thought of the recipe and felt her in-laws had behaved in a very ignorant manner.
One person commented: “It’s kind of funny when people like them get fake-raged when they end up suffering the consequences of their own shitty behavior. I would’ve loved to try your dish, it sounds amazing!”
Another said: “If people want to be narrow-minded, they don’t get to experience things in life. Also, everyone knows that food is a delicate subject matter across cultures and they were being ignorant and racist.”
