Cleaning your microwave is one of those jobs that can easily get forgotten – especially the inside of it. We put things in it in blissful ignorance without even thinking about how gross it may be inside. But if you could see how grimy it can get, it would be on your list of ‘to-do’s’ when you’re next hoping to deep clean the whole kitchen.

One cleaning guru has shared her perfect hack to get your microwave looking as good as new, using two ingredients that you’ll likely already have in your cupboards. Karen Shields aka @realkarencontent shared a video explaining ‘how to clean nasties stuck on your microwave’. The video then showed a video of her microwave which had food splashes all over the inside and needed a good scrub – or not, as she explained.

First, Karen places the turn table in the dishwasher, and then she starts to clean the bits of food that are stuck in her microwave. The turn table just needs a quick wash to make it sparkle, but the microwave itself needs a bit more work.

Then she explains that to clean the microwave you need a cup of water, a cup of white vinegar, and a lemon which you need to squeeze into the solution to make it work.

Karen then puts the microwave on high for seven minutes whilst letting the solution do its thing – during the cycle, the glass gets steamy and foggy.

Once she’s taken the bowl out she says: “Everything wipes off super easy. No scraping or scrubbing, just a quick wipe down and you are done.”

She then slams the microwave shut whilst smiling at the camera looking pleased with herself, proving how easy it is.

People were impressed with how easy the hack looked, with one user asking how did she know all these hacks.
