A woman who tried for years to get her greasy hair looking fresh says she tried every shop-bought product she could think of, without success. Thankfully, she found a cure in the form of a simple 3p hack she’s hailed as life-changing, and you may well already have the product in the back of your cupboard.

Beauty guru Isabella Traboscia, who regularly shares hair, make-up, and skincare tips online, recently reached out to others who know the frustration of having stubbornly greasy hair, vowing, ‘I’m going to change your life’. Opening up about her own vexing experiences, Isabella, who is from the US, revealed she’d tried ‘every dry shampoo from drugstore to high-end’, but nothing quite did the trick. That is until she came across corn starch, better known as corn flour in the UK.

Taking to TikTok, Isabella, who goes by the username @elevenesthetician, claimed: “Corn starch can make my hair last eight days.”

Corn starch – or corn flour – can usually be found at your local supermarket. It can be used as an ingredient in breadmaking, biscuit making or even to thicken up hearty soups. It’s also apparently a bit of a miracle worker when it comes to getting that clean hair feel.

Detailing how exactly to apply the product, Isabella explained: ”You need the tiniest bit on the brush and just pat it in. Blend it out like you would your make-up. It’s also not flammable chemicals on your scalp.”

Showing off the noticeable results, she added: “It does make a mess, but look at that difference. My hair looks clean again!”

Many of Natalie’s followers were left impressed by the result, not least because the tiny amount used would only set you back approximately 3p each time, with a bag of corn flour lasting a fair while.

One person commented: “Every dry shampoo I’ve tried makes my hair feel more nasty/oily than it was before. Definitely trying this.”

Another said: “Corn starch and then add a lil’ cinnamon for blonde/red hair or cocoa powder for brunettes to add a yummy fresh scent and darkens the white cast.”
