Woman’s advert for ‘non-weirdo’ to walk her dogs for free leaves people divided

When it comes to needing a last-minute dog walker, many people turn to their family or friends to quickly whip their pet around the block – but not everybody has this privilege. Some owners are left with no other option but to pay a professional dog walker to exercise their pet while they’re busy – and as long as they’ve done their research, this shouldn’t be a problem.

But one dog owner has caused a stir after putting out an advert for a “non-weirdo” to help her walk her three dogs in the early morning as she cannot control them all on her own. In her advert, she wrote: “Sunrise dog walking buddy sought.

“As per title, I have lots of tiny dogs. I need a bit of walking assistance tomorrow morning as my usual Sunday buddy can’t make it. You’re welcome to bring your own dog but be warned, mine are loud, reactive little turds. I would need you to hold three leads.

“Please no weirdos or small dog bashing. You would need your own transport. Hopefully I can find someone to cut my walk time in half.”

While some users slammed the woman for expecting somebody to give up their time to walk her dogs for free, others laughed at her request for “no weirdos”.

One user said: “You want to meet weirdos? This is how you meet them,” and another user added: “I wonder why her usual walking buddy ‘can’t make it’.

A third user said: “To be honest, I wouldn’t mind walking someone’s dog for free. I would like to have one join me on a hike – but not three little yappy dogs.”

It comes after an owner was slammed for expecting somebody to give up their time to watch over her puppy for as little as £2.35 per hour while she is busy.

Wanting them to work from 10am to 3pm from Monday to Friday, the woman says her Australian shepherd poodle cross currently weights 3lbs but will grow to about 15lbs.

On a poster advert, which has been shared on Reddit, she said: “Seeking dog sitter. Weekdays (MTWTF) 10am to 3pm. £200 per month. You can hang out at my apartment or bring her back to yours.”

Most users slammed her for adopting a dog she has “no time for”, others complained it could cost £200 per month in petrol just to get to her house and back.

One user said: “It’s basically a situation that could go either way. You could wind up really glad you made the call, or you could feel incredibly put upon and quickly regret making the call.

“The thing that really gets me though is them expecting the dog sitter to pay for the petrol. That is the stupidly exploitative part. £200 a month ain’t even covering the petrol to get to the dog.”

Another user added: “This dog is 3lbs, which puts it at just about eight-week- old even for a miniature poodle mix. At that age, five hours is going to be rough because there’s no way it’s already fully potty trained.”
