Amicable breakups happen for all sorts of reasons, and while they are often heart-wrenching, the couple can usually find some solace in knowing they both understand the reason the relationship must come to an end. Perhaps they’ve decided they have different goals in life, or one of the lovers is planning a move far away and feels the distance is insurmountable.
Whatever the cause, it nonetheless remains a painful process for the couple to deal with as they see fit. Yet, many people have said they cannot help but feel amazed by the response of one pair, who have planned their breakup in advance.

The couple, who will separate in two weeks time, according to a TikTok posted by the girlfriend, even enjoyed a “breakup weekend getaway” to mark the end of their time together.
But while many praised the woman and her partner for their “mature and considerate” response to their breakup, others remained puzzled by their decision to go away together, knowing their relationship will not last. Shared by @tovahparpar, the moving video shows the woman relaxing in bed with her partner, as the pair hold hands.
The onscreen text explains: “Me and my boyfriend are breaking up in 2 weeks. We went on a beautiful breakup weekend getaway. We cuddled in this spot for 4 hours reminiscing.
“We talked about all of our fears, our plans for healing, and what we hope for our futures. It was heartbreaking and healing all at once.”
Her caption adds: “It won’t hurt this bad forever, right?” While she did not add further information in the post, a previous video revealed some insight into the pair’s tough decision.
She wrote: “I was supposed to move in with my boyfriend today. Instead, he’s helping me pack up as I move to a new city and prepare to break up. Simultaneously falling more in love with him each day and grieving our relationship at the same time,” the stricken girlfriend added in the clip’s caption.
The series of videos, which have gathered millions of views, proved very divisive, with many people unable to agree as they responded to the couple’s situation. One reply read: “Sometimes a breakup isn’t a crisis, sometimes it’s two people who love each other realising there is a non-negotiable that means they aren’t their 4ever.”
Another commenter praised the pair, writing: “This is so mature and considerate, just lovely.”
However, someone else wrote: “Now this is something I will absolutely never understand.”
And replying to the video about the pair’s getaway, a different user proclaimed: “This would be psychologically traumatising for me.”
