The New York Yankees are counting on left-hander Max Fried to lead them to victory in Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Fried, who has been on six days of rest, will face off against right-hander Nick Martinez, who is making his first start of the postseason.
Fried has been a key player for the Yankees this season, posting a 5-5 record with a 2.80 ERA. He has a deep pitch mix and is less strikeout-reliant than his rotation mates. The Rays, on the other hand, have struggled against southpaws this season, with the sixth-worst OPS against left-handed pitchers.
The Pressure is on Fried
Fried will be facing a Rays team that is looking to complete the sweep and advance to the American League Championship Series. The pressure is on Fried to perform, especially given his personal situation. His girlfriend is due to give birth any day now, and Fried has stated that he will be on the mound regardless of the outcome.
Fried has been preparing for this moment, and he is confident in his ability to neutralize the Rays’ lineup. He has a good understanding of the opposing team’s strengths and weaknesses, and he is ready to make the necessary adjustments to lead his team to victory.
