A captivating American League Division Series between the Yankees and Guardians is fast approaching its fiery finish. Those hoping to attend Game 5 of the ALDS might want to bring a jacket, however.
The rubber match of the ALDS’s 7:07 first pitch will be delayed as early forecasts indicate that storms are expected to descend on Yankee Stadium.
It wouldn’t be the first time rain has disrupted this series; inclement weather pushed Game 2 last week from a prime-time Thursday slot to mid-day Friday.

8:45 p.m. — Looking like another half hour to hour of rain, but it looks like we’re nearly coming out of it. If nothing else, there’s light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.
Probably in for another 30-60ish mins of rain in the Bronx, but you can see the back edge (and end) of the rain finally approaching from the west. ⛈🤞🏼#RepBX #Postseason #yankees

6:57 p.m.: For those curious about the inner workings of deciding upon a delay:
To provide some clarity on the weather decisions: MLB consults with both teams, and the umpires, but ultimately at this time of years it’s in the hands of MLB. Teams may have their own preferences but the final call isn’t theirs.

12:40 p.m.: Although there may be a slight delay, it seems the rain front approaching isn’t too strong. That should keep the game from being postponed, ideally.
It appears likely that the game will be impacted by the weather at some point. The good news is that the front is moving fairly quickly, so conditions should improve by mid-evening and we aren’t expecting a washout by any means.
