YouTube introduced a new feature yesterday that allows anyone taking questions from their audience during a live stream to more easily manage the whole process.
Live chat, especially on very popular channels, can move so quickly it’s hard to spot questions. YouTube decided to fix this with a new Live Q&A feature(Opens in a new window) that removes a lot of the hassle and allows a streamer to focus on answering questions in the order they were received.
This handy video explains how the Live Q&A feature works:
For the streamer, a Q&A session can be triggered and then live chat is replaced with a list of questions organized chronologically. One question can then be selected and highlighted so viewers know which question is being answered. The moderation system is the same as for live chat, so blocked words, hold for review, and message reporting all continue to work as expected.

YouTube decided 200 questions was the limit before the oldest ones on the list start to automatically disappear. This will only prove to be a problem for the most popular channels, and YouTube may end up having to tweak the functionality so some questions can be marked as remaining visible regardless of how old they are.
