Running out of ice in the middle of a heatwave is a nightmare – especially when you know it’d perfectly compliment the summer cocktail you just made.
Being limited to as many cubes as there are in the tray is annoying, but one man thinks he may have a solution to solve your ice cube woes.
UK-based Archie Wilde has taken to TikTok to tell us all that we’ve been using our ice cube trays wrong.
Thankfully, he’s got the solution to help us – and it’s a lot simpler than you’d imagine.
Instead of filling it up and using the ice cubes straight from the tray and using the lot before re-filling, he has found a far better way.

And it means no more waiting around for ice to freeze or being disappointed that your drink won’t be ice cold.
In the video, he says: “It has genuinely taken a national heatwave for me to figure out that once you’ve frozen a tray of ice you can just put them in a bag.”
He then pulls a face to show how shocked he is that he hasn’t thought of this beforehand.
People were as shocked as him in the comment section, with some referring to the hack as ‘genius’.
Someone wrote: “35 years on this planet and I’ve literally never thought of this. I even buy bags of ice cubes.”
Another commented: “Omg, that’s actually genius!”
“It seems so obvious now someone’s said it out loud. I’m ashamed of myself for never thinking of this”, admitted one TikToker.
Another suggested their own methods of using their ice tray: “I do it with milk in case I ever run out I have a stash of milk cubes”.
“Oh, well then. I’ve been wasting a lot of time ice-less”, someone joked.
Another said: “For me, it was learning you can twist the ice tray to pop the ice out instead of banging the tray on the side.”
