A bride has been left angry with a close friend after it came to light that she wanted to wear white to her wedding as the bride was choosing not to. The soon-to-be married woman took to Reddit to explain that she has always been into gothic culture and, therefore, did not want to wear a white dress and instead opt for something a little less traditional.

She explained: “Ever since I was around 10 years old, I’ve been super into alternative subcultures (goth, punk, grunge, etc). I dress pretty alternative, and I’m heavily tattooed. I know my look isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s what makes me feel like me.

“For the wedding, I’m going to be going a bit against tradition and wearing a black dress. I’ve purchased my dress already and I couldn’t be happier with it, it’s so beautiful and flattering.”

However, one of her bridesmaids has not really bought into the different culture of this wedding and instead wants to wear something more traditional.

“I have a few bridesmaids, but I’m not doing the matching dresses thing, I told them to pick what they think looks good,” explained the author.

“One of my friends, is one of the bridesmaids and she recently went dress shopping and sent me a photo of the dress she’s going to wear to the wedding. I was shocked.”

She was surprised to find that her bridesmaid had gone for a completely white long-sleeved dress and the bride was not impressed and asked her not to wear it to her wedding as many people will mistake her for the bride in any photos.

“She was really disappointed and said she loves the dress. I told her it’s a lovely dress but please not for the wedding,” stated the bride.

“The bridesmaid started to get mad and said I’m not wearing white anyway, so she should be allowed to wear the dress, plus it’s not completely white. I told her I still don’t want her to wear it.

“She’s really angry and told everyone I’m being a bridezilla, and said if I don’t let her wear the dress she’s not going to attend the wedding.”

Many have been quick to support the bride in response with one saying: “‘Not completely white.’ Puh-lease. Everyone knows you don’t wear white, or “mostly white” to a wedding. At the very least, dye it blue!”

While another person commented: “Enjoy your wedding. Don’t give into her ultimatum. Pay her dust and ignore her. If she allows her desire to wear a wedding dress to your wedding to nuke your friendship, then she was never a true friend.”
