Canceled HBO Max Shows Now Streaming on The Roku Channel

More than 2,000 hours of Warner Bros. Discovery content—including canceled HBO series Westworld, The Nevers, and Raised by Wolves—is available now to stream on Roku.

The Roku Channel just launched 14 ad-supported stations(Opens in a new window), including WB TV Watchlist, which resurrects all four seasons of Westworld. But you can also watch reality content or WB classics for free, provided you can handle some commercials.

The move comes four months after Warner Bros. Discovery struck a deal(Opens in a new window) to license select content to free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) services like Tubi and Roku.

Last year’s merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery resulted in Warner Bros. Discovery yanking some shows from its streaming services in a bid to cut costs. In 2022 alone, viewers also said goodbye to Vinyl, Camping, Mrs. Fletcher, Run, Here and Now, At Home With Amy Sedaris, Generation, Infinity Train, 12 Dates of Christmas, Aquaman: King of Atlantis, The Fungies!, Ravi Patel’s Pursuit of Happiness, and Yabba Dabba Dinosaurs. (Not to mention more than 200 classic episodes of Sesame Street.)

Warner Bros. Discovery argues that axing these shows allows it to spend on new content rather than pay residuals—the union-negotiated payments received by writers, actors, directors, etc., when their movie, TV show, or online production airs in reruns or is used in a different medium, like streaming services.

CEO David Zaslav, whose post-pandemic approach to entertainment focuses on theatrical releases over streaming originals, previously shelved DC Comics movie Batgirl and Scoob! sequel Holiday Haunt—both produced exclusively for HBO Max.

Here are the new channels coming to Roku and a sampling of their content. The Roku Channel is accessible through Roku devices, the web, iOS and Android devices, Amazon Fire TV, and select Samsung TVs.
