Do You Remember All Of These Strange Trends?: Part One

  • These strange trends are old and new and some old ones have even came back.

These strange trends will take you back. And also, some of them have come back.

Clear Craze

Do you remember when companies started making products clear? Soda and even Kool-Aid was coming out clear as water. During the ‘80s and ‘90s, you could find everything from Crystal Pepsi, Tab Clear, and Zima, too.

Crackle Nail Polish

If you do your own nails and you’ve used crackle nail polish, then you know how great it is. You brush it onto your nail and it crackles. The look was different and virtually foolproof. Do you think crackle nail polish will ever come back? Is it one of the strangest trends?

Yik Yak

“Yik Yak was the shit. Everyone knew what was going on on campus within seconds. People within the same classes used it to shit-talk professors and cheat on tests. It’s too bad that people had to ruin it with death threats and such, which kind of forced Yik Yak to make it non anonymous and killed the appeal it had in the first place. For me as a commuting student at the time, it was key to keeping up with the happenings and drama around campus.” Apparently this was a thing?

Rage Comics

You know when you see the scratchy black and white comics with weird faces? These are the rage comics. Sometimes they have mad faces or manic laughing faces and there are also some creepy joker smile type faces. They were one of the strangest trends but you do still see them every now and again. One of these strange trends is the most strange but seeing this trend always makes me laugh.

Creepy Clowns

These come and go. During the 2000s, there were creepy clowns coming out of nowhere..and a lot of people don’t like clowns.

Heelies

Did you ever have a pair of Heelies? They were the shoes with the wheels on them. They seems fun but they also seem to have a death wish coming to them. I mean, shoes with wheels? Fun but yike.

Tamagotchis

These were so fun and they should come back. You had a little hand animal you could play with, feed, and put to bed. It would remind you if you forgot about it and alarm you to its needs. Wouldn’t mind hearing this song again. What a classic.

Fidget Spinners

These strange trends originally came out for kids but we all love them. So many people started creating and selling fidget spinners and it was huge. Well, until it wasn’t.

Myspace

Before the rest, there was myspace. Your page had music, listed your top friends and it was the top of the top.

Slap Bracelets

Does this take you back to your childhood? Slap bracelets were fun to play with and colorful to wear. Do they still sell slap bracelets? Do the kids of today know the joy and fun that we did in the 90s

The Budweiser Frogs

Way before Budweiser got a bad rep for certain things said by their CEO after a untypical choice for “model” on their can, there were the Budweiser frogs. Pretty sure these debuted during the Super Bowl.

“Everyone was going around saying, ‘Bud.’ Someone else would say, ‘Wise.’ And someone else would say, ‘Er.’ I even had a couple of different shirts with the sayings on them lol.” These strange trends are missed, this was a fun one.

Keep Calm and

  • Carry on
  • Enjoy life
  • Ride
  • Drive
  • Do crafts
  • Craft on
  • Read on
  • Go back to sleep
  • Chase your dream

And so, so many more. Maybe not the strangest trends but silly for sure.

Beyblades

This name doesn’t sound right but you’ll probably remember this toy. Basically, you stuck a larger-sized spinning top onto a gun and attached it with a plastic-grooved long string with a finger hold on the end. From there you would pull and the top would fall fast to the ground and spin away. Fun for hours.

The Dress

There’s no way you don’t remember, the dress. Is it blue and black or white and gold? Does anyone really know? This was a huge debate and seems, it still is!
