Dog’s odd habit sparks widespread panic in neighbourhood – but he doesn’t care

A curious pooch has become a well-known face in his community after taking a liking to his owner’s roof – he spends hours up there at a time watching over the neighbourhood

While dogs have a tendency to cause trouble, you never expect them to spark widespread panic in your neighbourhood. A dog owner has shared her embarrassment after having the fire department called to her house because her “big dog ” found his way on to the roof.

However, she admitted it isn’t the first time he has made his way up there. A spokesperson from the fire department announced a call it had received about the naughty pooch on Facebook, writing: “Dispatched for a dog on a roof on Laurel St. Crews arrived on the scene and found a big dog on the roof. We investigated and found that he comes and goes in the house as he pleases.”

In an attempt to reassure her neighbours, social media users have been encouraging her to install a sign outside her house explaining her dog’s “unusual behaviour”.

One user said: “It’s like those goats that just stand on mountain cliffs.”

Another user added: “You should put up a sign in your garden so your neighbours don’t worry about his safety in the future.”

A third user said: “I would c*** a brick seeing this making my morning coffee.”

While other users questioned how the pooch managed to make his way on to the roof – and whether it can withstand his weight considering he is a “big boy”.

One user said: “He looks like he pretty much does anything he pleases.”

In response, another user said: “Right? Look at that face! I’m not going to tell him no.”

While one more asked: “How… how did the dog get up there? Have you seen the size of him? Is the roof going to cave in? I have so many questions.”

But he isn’t the only dog who has taken a liking to hanging out on the roof as a golden retriever gave his neighbours a fright after sneaking up on them from above.

His owner was forced to install a sign to reassure her neighbours about her pet’s unusual antics.

It reads: “Huckleberry is living up to his name and learned how to jump onto our roof from the backyard. We never leave him in the backyard without someone being at home. He will not jump off unless you entice him with food or a ball!

“We appreciate your concern but please do not knock on our door – we know he’s up there! But please feel free to take pictures of him and share with the world!”

Before installing the sign, the woman would have four to five people knocking on her door per week, asking: “Do you realise there’s a dog on your roof?”.

She says this dropped to once or twice per week as some still “miss the sign when they’re walking up” to the house.
